Gelert Chair-off of Doooooom

gelert_250

Our actual final test, which was held after the fortnight was almost up and we’d all had time to test drive the chairs ourselves, saw them set out in a line before a notepad was passed between us all for the ratings. Like a 10-year-old’s birthday party we’d then all swap seats and start again. There was even cake. Read more…

Freeloader Classic solar charger

A81100240000

So concerned were Solar Tech that they arranged to send someone to see me on a 140-mile round trip, but I had a eureka moment beforehand. Because my phone is jailbroken I have a percentage value of the remaining battery power on the screen. I realised that the more power I had in the phone when I plugged it in to charge, the better chance there was of the Freeloader behaving itself and the phone fully charging. Read more…

Pots of Noodles – Head to Head

Now, THIS is an important test!

We love our noodles because they’re a real multi-tool of the Festival camping experience. You get a “meal”, and then a handy pot in which you can make tea, store things or have a wee when it’s late and you’re too far from the toilets. Genius. Read more…

Campingaz Twister Plus stove

Crap… honestly.
What I will concede is that the design appears to have changed a tiny bit (there’s some kind of strut on each fin), but I’ll be amazed if that makes much difference to the stability of the whole thing when supporting a pan of boiling water. Read more…

Maglite – 2D Cell Flashlight

The Maglite 2D Cell Flashlight is nowhere near as good as an LED flashlight, and nowhere near as bright as it could/should be. Avoid it. If you want a Maglite, get either the LED versions, or one of the larger Bulb versions, which take more batteries and are brighter. Read more…

The Hidden Places of England

A bit crap, really. Not focussed enough. Possibly handy if you’re an American tourist but don’t expect to find Edin-burg in there cos that’s in Scotland, which is north of England.
